# Plans and limits

> How quotas, transcription minutes, and feature entitlements are enforced.

Tap enforces limits through **entitlements** — records that grant a quota to a person or a whole company. This page explains the mechanics, which stay constant. For current plan names and prices, see the [pricing page](https://gettap.co/pricing), which is the live source.

<Note>
  Plan names, prices, and what each includes are deliberately not repeated here — they'd go stale the day they changed. See [Pricing in Tap Teams](https://teams.gettap.co/en/pricing) or the [public pricing page](https://gettap.co/pricing).
</Note>

## Personal vs company entitlements

An entitlement is scoped one of two ways, and the difference decides who is allowed to spend it:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Personal" icon="user">
    Granted to one named individual. Only that person can consume it. Used for individual Tap subscriptions.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Company-wide" icon="building">
    Granted to a company. **Any member of that company** consumes from the same shared pool, regardless of who bought it.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Warning>
  Company-wide quotas are a shared bucket, not a per-seat allowance. One member transcribing a long day of meetings can exhaust the pool for everyone else. If minutes are running out faster than expected, check per-member usage under [Insights → Members](/en/insights/members) before buying more.
</Warning>

## Transcription minutes

Meeting transcription is the main metered feature.

* A slot is reserved when a meeting starts processing, not when it finishes.
* If your quota is exhausted, the meeting is **rejected up front** with a quota error rather than processing and failing later.
* Usage is written to an append-only log, so historical totals survive a plan change, a downgrade, or a billing-cycle rollover.

You can top up independently of your subscription by buying a transcription package — see [Transcription](/en/leads/transcription#topping-up).

<Note>
  **No entitlement means no enforcement.** If a company has no matching entitlement rows at all, quota checks don't apply. This is deliberate backward-compatible behavior for accounts that predate metering — it is not an unlimited plan, and it changes the moment an entitlement is issued.
</Note>

## Enrichment credits

[Lead enrichment](/en/leads/enrichment) spends credits from a company-wide pool, separate from transcription minutes. A lookup that finds nothing is not charged. Credit packs can expire, and the balance shows the date before it happens. Your full-team admin can also cap what one member may spend in a month.

See [Lead enrichment → Credits](/en/leads/enrichment#credits).

## Feature gating

Separately from metered quotas, features are gated by plan. Three groups exist:

| Group | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Free plan features | Available on every account |
| Pro features | Unlocked by an individual paid subscription |
| Team features | Departments, templates, insights, CRM sync — require a team plan |

Link types are also gated individually. Some specialised link types are restricted to paid plans, which is why a link type visible in your teammate's app may be missing from yours.

## When you hit a limit

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="A meeting fails to process with a quota error" icon="microphone-slash">
    Your transcription pool is exhausted. Buy a package, or wait for the cycle to roll over. The recording itself is not lost — only the processing is blocked.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A member can't add a particular link type" icon="link-slash">
    Two possible causes, in this order: the link type is gated to a higher plan, or their **department** restricts that link type. Check [Department permissions](/en/teams/department-permissions) first — it's the more common of the two and it's free to fix.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A feature is missing from the dashboard entirely" icon="eye-slash">
    Team features are hidden rather than disabled when your plan doesn't include them. If a whole section of navigation is absent, it's a plan boundary, not a bug.
  </Accordion>
