# Designing a card

> Design a physical Tap card in the app and order it.

The card designer lets you lay out a physical Tap card — both sides — and order it without leaving the app.

## What you can put on a card

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Name and title" icon="font">
    With control over font family, weight, size, line height, and colour. Arabic and Latin font families are both available.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Background" icon="fill-drip">
    A solid colour or an image. Drag on the card to reposition an image.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Images" icon="image">
    Add several per side. Drag to reorder — the first appears on top.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Icons" icon="shapes">
    Same as images: several per side, reorderable, with size control.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

You design the front and back separately, and can make the back match the front in one action rather than rebuilding it.

## Print quality

This is where card designs go wrong, and both pitfalls are worth knowing before you start rather than after the box arrives.

<Warning>
  **Colours print in CMYK.** Custom colours may look slightly different on the printed card than on your screen. Screens emit light and cards reflect it — vivid, saturated colours are the ones most likely to shift. Avoid designs where an exact brand colour match is critical unless you've seen a printed sample.
</Warning>

<Warning>
  **Watch the low-resolution warnings.** The designer flags images whose resolution is too low, and that warning is worth acting on: an image that looks fine on a phone screen can look visibly blurry printed at card size. Use the highest-resolution version of any logo you have.
</Warning>

## Working with drafts

Card designs save as drafts, so you can start a design, leave, and come back without losing work. Useful when you need someone else to approve a layout before ordering.

## Ordering

Once a design is finished, order the card from the app and track it under your orders.

When it arrives, [activate it](/en/mobile/products) and link it to a profile. A card that hasn't been activated doesn't do anything yet.

    The card's only job is to be tapped. It doesn't need your phone number, your email, and three social handles — that's what the profile it opens is for. Name, title, logo. Stop there.

    Cards get looked at under bad exhibition lighting. Grey text on a slightly different grey reads beautifully on a monitor and disappears in a hall.

  <Accordion title="Check the Arabic font separately" icon="language">
    If your card carries Arabic, preview it specifically. Latin and Arabic fonts are chosen independently, and a pairing that looks right at one size may not at another.

    A single sample tells you more about how your colours actually print than any amount of on-screen previewing.
